Almost at the finish line!

October 26, 2012

I have two more finishes to share. These quilts were both scrap-buster projects over the summer. I barely made a dent in my pile, but it was a good start.

For this one I interpreted Pow Wow from Cluck Cluck Sew in solids – see the original post here. You can see Ann Kelle’s birds from Urban Zoologie peeking out from the back. That wonderful print is out of stock, but look for some fun new animal prints from Amy Schimler later in the year. To re-create this palette, choose Coral, Flame, Tomato, Red, Rich Red, Chinese Red, Coffee, and Espresso with a bit of Chartreuse on a background of Bone.

This is only a little one, about 37″ x 41, but the pattern includes instructions for larger sizes (up to a twin). It’s one of those wonderful patterns that lends itself to all kinds of possibilities.

This is the front and back of my Baby Log Cabin, using a free pattern from Malka Dubrawsky. You can find my original post for this quilt here. Pieced backs are always fun – this one combines a Nicey Jane dot from a few years ago with some Kona and shot cottons (all from the scrap bin too!) You can re-create this one in any color palette you choose. I was cutting QuiltCon bundles the other day and thought it would make a terrific baby log cabin. I would suggest a half yard bundle to give you enough to work with – you can always use any leftovers in your back.

I have one more quilt to try and finish in October – look for it next week. In the meantine, you’ll find me at the London Friendship Quilters’ Guild Harvest of Quilts on Friday and Saturday – maybe I’ll see you there.

Good luck with your own finishes. And remember, there are still a few days left to get it done for OctoberQuest!

Beautiful quilts! I especially like the Baby log cabin. Might have to give that pattern a try…
