Summer sewing … or not?
With the school year winding down, and summer just around the corner, you may not have the time or inclination to do much sewing in the coming months. There are other distractions, like this:
or maybe this:
and sometimes even this!
What will you be doing this summer? If your plans include some sewing, and you’re looking for ideas, you might like to try a quilt-along. I’ve participated in 2 quilt alongs this year – Cherry House and Fat Quarterly. One of the fun things about them are the Flickr groups that go along – you can post your work, and see what everyone else in the group is doing too. And even if you’re following the quilt-along late (as I did with the Fat Quarterly) it doesn’t matter at all – the instructions and photos are all there for you.
Here are some of the quilt-alongs I’ve come across lately that look like fun. Let me know if you’re aware of others that should be added to the list.
Synchronized Squares and Postage Stamp at PS I Quilt
Bottled Rainbows and Color Brick Quilt at Stitched in Color
Tokyo Subway Map, Paintbox & Mod Sampler at Oh, Fransson!
Kaleidoscope at Don’t Call Me Betsy
Skill Builder Sampler at Sewn By Leila
Urban Lattice at Me? A Mom?
Warm Cool Quilt at In Color Order
That Girl Quilt at That Girl That Quilt
and 2 more (thanks Kristel!)
Mod Times at Twin Fibers and A Zig and A Zag at Cut To Pieces
A lot of people are done it already, but I’m still working on my Mod Times quilt-along quilt.
And Cut to Pieces is just starting up a zig zag quilt-along.
Clover and Violet is having a quilt and embroidery-along.
