Pastel Reflections
Here’s a new quilt top I’ve been working on. I used a Kona Pastel roll and another roll of Kona Charcoal for the background. The pattern by KarrieLyne from Freckled Whimsy was found in the Moda Bakeshop. The original quilt was made with prints on a white background … it’s always interesting to see how a quilt translates into solids. I like the way the pastel colors shine against the dark barkground. Alex has dubbed it the post-it quilt, the girls see a city skyline and Tom tells me that a random pattern conveys more information than a repeating pattern. Even a simple quilt can generate an interesting discussion at our house!
In an effort to learn a new skill this year, I’m determined to try some hand quilting. This sampler of pastel perle cottons from Presencia should do nicely. I’ve ordered a few different color samplers for those who like perle cotton for handwork – you’ll be able to find them in the shop in a week or so.
This is quite pretty – I really like the pastels up against that charcoal.
I’ve got one of these quilts sitting half-constructed in my closet (in a mix of prints and solids). That should really get bumped up my to do list.
