Simple Baby Quilt Instructions
Last week’s quilt project is finished:
The main print from Annette Tatum’s Little House collection was so pretty I didn’t want to cut it up. I made this one without a pattern, but I’ll give you the basic directions here.
You’ll need ¾ yard each of 3 fabrics
Cut a panel 24″ x 30″ from the main fabric
Cut 4 strips 2½” wide x width of fabric from the first border fabric (use the rest for binding)
Cut 4 strips 4½” wide x width of fabric from the second border fabric
Sew the inner & outer border strip together in pairs – to make 4 border strips 6½” x width of fabric
Mark the center point of each border strip & also the center point on each side of the main panel
Match the center on one side of the panel with the center on a border strip and sew right sides together (starting & ending ¼” from the end of the panel)
Repeat for the other side of the panel, and the top and bottom as well. All 4 borders should now be attached, with ends dangling! The borders are ready to be mitered. If you’ve never done mitered borders before, you’ll find step by step illustrated directions from Quilt University here.
Now quilt & bind as desired. Finished quilt size is about 36″ x 42″.
Simple, fresh and fun!
I’m finished with baby quilts for now. They’re off to be quilted and then I’ll try to have them bound so they’re ready for the shows in May. I’ll be working on some other projects in April … check back next Monday to see what I’ve been up to!
Just a reminder that today is the last day for the birthday sale. Save 10% on all regularly priced mechandise in the shop.
Fun pattern!
I love the tropical colourway! It would be perfect on my daughter’s bed.
