Spring chicks in late summer

September 1, 2012

As promised, I’ve put together a quick quilt top with some Ann Kelle prints. This one features Spring Chicks and Garden Flowers with coordinating polka dots and Kona white. It’s an easy square in square block, this one with 7″ finished center squares and 2″ finished strips on the outside for an 11″ finished block. It’s easy to adjust the block size .. just choose any size of center squares and outer strips you like.

The chicks seem decidedly spring like, but I was still able to find the pink and yellow color combination blooming in my garden today.

Roses and clematis in my September garden.

I saw this clematis (C. Tangutica) in a gardening book or magazine a long time ago and knew I had to have it in my own garden. It’s an easy enough vine to grow here in Ottawa. Don’t you love those seed pods? Do you have a favorite plant in your September garden?

I love my heucheras. I have a midnight burgundy that’s almost black, and another apricot coloured one that set each other off (maybe like a quilt block,,,hmmm).
