Work in progress

November 16, 2010

I started a quilt last week, and made good progress over the weekend. It started with a bundle of solids that were inspired by a box that I’ve had for a few years:

Fossil watch box - love the colors!

Here’s what the top looks like in the sunshine of my sewing room:

Pink & Orange blocks

I’ve made 30 blocks which makes a 50″ x 60″ quilt, but I’m liking it so much I think it’s going to grow into a twin size. For those looking for a pattern, check out Cherry Fizz from Cherry House Quilts – there are detailed instructions on cutting and piecing these log cabin style blocks. And if you like the colors, I’ve added a new half yard bundle to the shop.

The random number generator picked the latest giveway winners – #18 (Elizabeth) gets a copy of Quilting In No Time and #8 (Trudy) gets a copy of Zakka Sewing. Congrats to the winners and thanks to everyone for sharing your stories of handmade gifts. It was inspiring to read them all!

Ooh! Love the colour combo! What a bright and cheery quilt it’s going to be. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
