Week 5 of my Christmas Challenge

September 20, 2010

Quilted coasters

I found this week’s project on MarthaStewart.com. It’s an excerpt from “Last-Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts” by Joelle Halvorsen. You can find the instructions here. You need a 4 ½” x 10″ piece of fabric for each coaster, plus a 4″ x 4″ piece of batting. I found it easier to lay the batting on the wrong side of the coaster before turning it inside out. As with all the projects in this challenge, you can raid your stash and make a set of coasters for just about anybody on your Christmas list.

If you’re following the challenge, you should still have some scraps of fabric left from the original yardage for next week’s effort. And don’t forget to save any selvedge edges for a bonus project!
