Week 4 of my Christmas Challenge

September 13, 2010

Colorful Christmas Treat Totes

This week’s project was easy and fun – Small Treat Totes from These little treat bags have squared off corners and measure about 4″ x 4″ x 2″. Everyone in the house had ideas on what you could put in them – candies, jewellery and gift cards would all fit nicely.

I used 4 prints from what I had left, and paired them up for my totes. You can make them scrappier than mine if you like. The handles are grosgrain ribbon purchased from Fabricland. You’re going to need 4 pieces of fabric 4 ½” x 10″ for next week’s project, so keep that in mind when you’re cutting for this week.

I came across an idea for a seventh bonus project – but you’re going to need to keep your selvedges. Maybe you’ve already trimmed and tossed them but if not, trim 1 – 1 ½” from each selvedge edge and put them aside for now. It’s not too late to get started on your Christmas sewing, and there are still some half yard bundles of Colorful Christmas in the shop.

Love these little bags! My grandkids would flip out. Might have to start a new project :-)
