Tropical I Do!

March 22, 2010

Here’s the quilt top I started with Valori Well’s Blossom fabric:

Tropical Baby Quilt

I used the baby I Do! pattern from Cherry House to make this fresh, contemporary baby quilt. I also tried Dale Fleming’s six-minute circle technique to make the appliques. It worked beautifully, although the first one took me  considerably longer than 6 minutes as I moved outside my comfort zone to do the applique. I’ll probably choose canteloupe Minkee dot for the backing.

You can find the kit here, or if you want to make a more boyish version, try this one.

For this week’s project, I’ll be trying Doodle Bricks:

Doodle Bricks from Waltzing With Bears

Next week I’ll show you what fabric I’ll be working with!
