Botany Baby

March 16, 2011

This quilt top was commissioned by some friends as a gift. The new parents are expecting a baby boy, and the only requirements were that it should have some green, and not be too traditional. I had a Botany jelly roll (Lauren + Jessi Jung for Moda) that I picked up last year with no project in mind. I chose 13 strips in brown, green and aqua, added a custom Kona roll (Snow) from the shop and the whole thing went together quickly. Luckily I had the good sense to get a yard of coordinating fabric when I bought the jelly roll, so had enough for the border and binding. I’ve still got lots of strips left from the Botany roll, and am on the hunt for some fun project ideas to share with you.

Here’s my finished CHQ quilt. It wasn’t difficult, and would make a quick and practical gift for a new mom. Check out the flickr group to see lots more finished projects.
